There are a lot of petitions out there that, really, let's face it...nothing ever happens. There's uproar and shock, but nothing changes if the dems create the petition.
But there's actually one that I think deserves to be signed.
This link, will take you to Change.org. This petition is the brainchild of one of my favorite bloggers...you will find his site, The Political Animal at the side over there ---->
Anyway, he posted the other day about taking all the letters from repubs, asking for funding and approving them with their letters to him . :) Go read it here.
Now, that's just brilliant.
So sign this petition and share it everywhere. And be on the lookout for a march in DC and across the country in October. I will just happen to be in DC in October......I hope my path will cross with it. :)

Must Read
Amen Brother Steve, Amen......
as usual, he nails it....read it here.
The problem with the 112th isn’t a structural impediment; it’s the result of a radicalized Republican Party that has no use for compromise, evidence, or reason. We have a congressional GOP abandoning all institutional norms, pushing extremist policies, rejecting their own ideas if they enjoy Democratic support, and engaging in tactics that were once thought unthinkable from policymakers who put the nation’s needs first.

We're not with him....no....
Eight Republican state senators have issued a rare public rebuke of Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R), writing an op-ed expressing "discomfort and dismay" with some of his recent comments directed at labor backers.Even the repubs are distancing themselves from the freaks who got elected.....do you still think your vote doesn't count?

must read....
I can't remember the last time the political discourse made this little sense. We have Americans demanding action on job creation; we have congressional Republicans deliberately trying to make unemployment worse; and we have a media that prefers to pretend that the deficit matters more than the economy.
Can I get an amen? Go read the whole thing here.

quotes....
via Steve Benen
Sen. Jeff Sessions (R) of Alabama was asked on CNN this morning whether he considers that "a good start." He replied:
But literally two minutes later, in exact the same interview, Sessions reflected on House Republicans' proposed cuts.
so yay for the American people.
Sen. Jeff Sessions (R) of Alabama was asked on CNN this morning whether he considers that "a good start." He replied:
"No, it's not. This is a ten-year budget. It sets the president's plans and what the country should do for the next 10 years.... $1 trillion reduction is insignificant and does not get us off the right course."I assume he meant to say "wrong course," but misspoke. Fine.
But literally two minutes later, in exact the same interview, Sessions reflected on House Republicans' proposed cuts.
"[E]ven the $100 billion House proposal in reducing spending will amount to $1 trillion. And that's a step. I mean, because, you carry it out for ten years and you save $1 trillion in that fashion."Remember, Jeff Sessions is the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, so presumably he has some familiarity with these issues.
so yay for the American people.

amen, brother. amen.
One can believe that the Tucson shooter was a mentally-unstable madman and believe that the right needs to tone down its rhetoric. - Steve Benen

....and the beat goes on....
I am all for reading the Constitution. I am more for comprehending the Constitution. But if you're going to read it, read it. Flaws and all. That's why it's called a living document. duh.
You can find the first post here.. You can find the second post here.
and then...
But before the political world moves on, it's worth noting that those who listened to the reading didn't hear the entire Constitution -- there were some omissions organizers of the p.r. stunt intended to make, and then there were the omissions that happened by accident.
On the former, the reading left out any constitutional text that had been invalidated by subsequent amendments to the document. This, conveniently, spared members the embarrassment of having to read portions that, for example, counted slaves as only three-fifths of a person.
To briefly recap, Reps. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) and Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) missed the official swearing in ceremony, but claim that they raised their hand and took the oath while watching the proceedings on television from the Capitol Visitors Center. Legally, that doesn't count. They voted twice. idiots. They can read a whitewashed version of our most important document (while the leadership gives a press conference.) but they take the time to tell our national stenographers how wonderful they are. They have been in the House a long time and have demonstrated their lack of respect for the institution (I'm looking at you Joe Wilson) but really? You think you can be sworn in by watching teevee? wow, the dumb runs thick in them.

the guy is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.....
that the American people buy this shit amazes me...that our media encourages this enrages me....go read the whole post here....
Every president since George Washington has used recess appointments; it's a power explicitly given to the president in the Constitution. Rubin and Gaziano, however, envision yet another hostage scenario -- the White House would have to commit to the Republican Senate minority that the president won't exercise his own authority or the GOP will simply refuse allow any nominees to receive any votes to any office for any reason.
The president might not be inclined to pay such a ransom. Of course, if he resists, I'm sure conservative bloggers will be there to insist the White House has "shed any pretense of bipartisanship."

But let's not forget what Senate Republicans demanded to get the bill through the chamber: a considerably weaker bill. The price tag is down to just $4.2 billion, and the life of the program is now five years instead of 10.
As Jonathan Zasloff noted, "Does that matter? I would think so: a chronic illness doesn't stop after five years because the federal funding runs out.... Hopefully, this does not harm any of the first responders who risked themselves for his freedom. But just remember this the next time Republicans tell you how much they care about national security."
